A quick story
Right before the pandemic hit, we were living in Michigan. We had moved there for a couple years while my husband was doing a Post-Doc at Northern Michigan University. Everything we had went into storage and soon after we came home, the pandemic hit and we found ourselves living primarily at my parents house, with our stuff still in storage. We recently moved into a new house and I was so excited to take out our old photos and hang them up. Some of the photos, including one of our wedding from just over 10 years ago had yellowed and wrinkled. It was so strange, I now understand how important the quality of the print is in preserving your memories. This is why I will now be offering select prints and products through a professional photo lab.
Ready to print those photos
So you have had your photoshoot, received your gallery, downloaded your images and selected your favourites, now what? Do they sit on your computer? Do you get them printed at a Walmart and then wonder why the colour looks off? Here is why you should rethink your choices! First, you invested lots of money into having your photos professionally taken: hiring a photographer, purchasing new clothes, having your hair freshened up (maybe even your makeup done), bribing your kids (and husband) - we all do it! Second, you invested time to colour coordinate outfits and accessories, ensure everything was washed and ironed, and you planned out the day to make sure everyone was fed and on time. Third, you received beautifully edited, high resolution images that are meant to be showcased in you home or in your memory books.
Ordering prints and products through your photographer makes a huge difference in the quality of the photos you are hanging on your walls, gifting loved ones, and putting in your family albums. Photographers have access to special print labs that cater specially to professional photographers, their printers are of the highest quality and colour calibrated regularly. We research print labs and order test prints to ensure the colours, paper quality, and finishes will complement our artwork. We can also offer eco-friendly paper options! Lastly, and possibly the most importantly, your photographer can resize your photos properly without compromising the integrity of the image. For example a 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10 will all have slightly different dimensions which will affect where the focal point should be.

Products
There are so many beautiful ways to display your photos throughout your home. Whether you prefer canvas, wood blocks, frames, you will always look at those images with pride and remember. For me, I love taking out old family albums and going through them with my kids, reliving vacations, celebrations, and all those special little moments. The thing is, back in the days of film, you had to develop photos and even if they stayed in box, you still have them 15 years later. Now, we take so many photos, but how often do you print them? Do you remember to remove all your images off old computers? Do you store digital copies in multiple locations in case your files are deleted or corrupted? I for one, am so far behind on my own family memories books, that catching up on my album creation is one of my 2023 commitments!
